Christina Haack has faced plenty of tricky design challenges before, but on the latest “Christina on the Coast,” she faces a doozy: She needs to figure out how to tastefully arrange four TVs.

In “Home Run Reno,” Haack helps Tony and Chelsea Williams renovate their Huntington Beach, CA, home. She has $80,000 to redo their bathroom, kitchen, and living room, and while she ends up going over budget and spending $86,000, the results are perfect for these avid sports fans.

Here’s how Haack pulls it off, which might inspire some changes around your own abode before game day, too.

Get that farmhouse look without going too rustic

Chelsea and Tony know that it’s time for a new kitchen. With the intricate backsplash and travertine floors, Haack agrees that the style is a bit dated.

“This is a very early 2000s, late ’90s look,” she says.

Chelsea wants to redo the kitchen with a modern farmhouse feel, but doesn’t want the space to feel too rustic.

“I like rustic pops, but not so much that it looks like I’m living in a barn,” she says.

So, Haack suggests using light-oak upper cabinets. Chelsea loves the oak, and it provides a sophisticated hint of a rustic vibe without going overboard.

Support your sports team in a subtle way

When Christina asks about Chelsea and Tony’s styles, Tony says he loves green, the color of his favorite team, the Oakland A’s.

So, while Chelsea is happy with her kitchen’s light-oak upper cabinets, Haack suggests satisfying Tony’s need for green by using green cabinetry for the lower ones and the new peninsula.

At first, Chelsea thinks this is a terrible idea.

“We’re both super into sports,” Chelsea says. “But, I’m not so into it that I want my cabinet colors to be a certain sports team color.”

However, Haack says that she has the same green cabinets in her bedroom loft—and gets tons of compliments on them! Eventually, Chelsea agrees to the green and, in the end, she’s happy she did. The green looks great, and while it’s the same color as the Oakland A’s, this kitchen doesn’t scream “sports.” It’s a unique color choice that really makes this kitchen pop.

3 TVs on one wall can look tasteful if arranged right

Probably the trickiest design dilemma Haack must tackle is that Chelsea and Tony want three TVs on one living room wall. This way, they can watch three different games at once! Still, they don’t want this space to look like a sports bar.

“We don’t want the TVs to overwhelm the room, so if we hang them like we would hang framed photos, it’ll feel more like an art instillation than a giant wall of TVs,” Haack points out. “Stacking the small TVs to one side of the larger one will balance out the wall and make it more visually interesting.”

To finish it off, Haack adds a long row of cabinets below, balancing out the extra screens. With the unique TV placement and the right furnishings, these three televisions look great. It may be an unusual home feature, but it works for these sports fans.

It’s OK to put a TV in the kitchen, too

While people in the living room can enjoy plenty of game-day entertainment with three TVs, Chelsea complains that she often misses important moments while prepping food in the kitchen.

So, Haack offers to add a fourth TV in the kitchen, saying, “I think we could do it in a way where we do nice built-ins around it that provides storage—and also just looks really nice.”

Haack has cabinetry added to the empty kitchen wall, then adds a television in the middle. When the work is finished, it’s clear that Haack’s design was the right choice. While adding a TV can make a kitchen feel less formal, this kitchen retains its classy look, while still providing Chelsea with a little entertainment while prepping meals.

Don’t pick too many busy tiles for a bathroom

This couple had started their bathroom renovation, but it was tough work.

Chelsea and Tony had started their own DIY bathroom upgrade, choosing a new tub and flooring tile. Yet they soon realized they were in way over their heads, and they hope Haack can finish the job.

Haack approves of the tub, but their flooring is busy, so she needs to plan her bathroom design around it.

“I went with simple options for the shower, because if you were to go with a busy option with this, it’s going to feel dizzy,” Haack says.

Tony and Chelsea approve of Haack’s simple choice of white tile, and the space looks beautiful. This bathroom proves that it’s important not to overwhelm a small room with too many bold patterns—one memorable material will make the space stand out.
